Nick Kirk picked the perfect day to turn around his junior season of baseball at Wahlert High School.

Kirk struck out 11 Cedar Rapids Xavier batters in eight innings of work and left with a no-decision in a game the Golden Eagles eventually lost, 4-3, in nine innings. The performance caught the eye of Xavier assistant coach Jim Arp, who suggested the left- hander try the Perfect Game Fall League he helps coordinate.
