As the school year begins, I think it appropriate to discuss a book about education, albeit from an unlikely source.
Thomas Bloch, former CEO of H&R Block, left his lofty position with the tax-preparation giant for a job as a middle school math teacher in inner city Kansas City. His recently published book, "Stand for the Best," chronicles his journey from the boardroom to the classroom and provides both hope and concern for our nation's most challenged learning population.
