Summary
The holiday season is a bonanza for sports nuts like me. The NFL playoffs are near, the NBA season will finally open on Christmas Day, college basketball will feature holiday tournaments before conference play begins, bowl games will be televised nearly every day, and the NHL will hold its 2012 Outdoor Classic on January 2.
Yet this year, I'm not so enthused. I've been a sports fan since I was able to throw a ball, and my rabid interest began in 1959, when the Baltimore Colts won the NFL championship, the Chicago White Sox made it to the World Series, and the Boston Celtics, behind magician Bob Cousy, were NBA champs.See the full content of this document
