Summary


Investigators ruled last Sunday that a devastating fire that destroyed three downtown Maquoketa (Iowa) Main Street businesses and caused damage to four others on Jan. 19 started accidentally. Because the fire damage was so extensive, the exact cause was impossible to determine.

A unit of the state fire marshal's office inspected the site of the fire for two days, issuing a ruling late last Sunday.
