People in the Dubuque community who knew Sister Jordan Dahm, OSF, remembered her as a tireless champion of the marginalized at all levels of society. Dahm, 83, died Monday in Holy Family Hall Infirmary at Mount St. Francis, where she had been since suffering a stroke two weeks ago.
The diminutive Franciscan sister was known for her drive and determination in pursuit of justice for anyone facing hardship or discrimination. She organized public prayer vigils for peace and for ending the death penalty, and ecumenical religious services for unity; she worked with secular and religious social justice groups and served on the city's sexual orientation subcommittee; she helped found a non-profit community housing development organization and worked for ethical choices in health care.See the full content of this document
