Summary
The No. 1 televised sport in England, Ireland and Scotland is snooker, a pocket-billiard game played with 21 balls on a table with narrow pockets that is much larger than an American pool table. The top players are millionaires, and because they get so much face time on the tube they are better known than most politicians.
With hundreds of hours of snooker aired every year on BBC, it's inevitable that the weary commentators will make occasional slips of the tongue.
