Sign Calls Attention to Wasted County Tax Dollars

A recent letter to the editor (Andrea Bixler, Sept. 12) questioned the sign on Grandview Avenue that reads, "We don't get much for our tax money." The writer continued to list numerous benefits that the public receives, mostly from federal tax dollars, and she is right. There is, however, more to the issue of what we get for our tax dollars in Dubuque County. We need more oversight.

Those signs belong to Daryl Klein, candidate for Dubuque County Supervisor, and his purpose is to bring the issue of the ongoing, wasteful spending of our county tax dollars to the attention of Dubuque County taxpayers. Since 2002, there has been more than $1.5 million wasted between road project overruns and the loss of a lawsuit that was brought because of a faulty bid process.
