Semi Driver Had Suspended License; Probe Into I-94 Tragedy Could Take Weeks

EAU CLAIRE (AP) - The 22-year-old driver of a semi that overturned on Interstate 94, leading to a crash that killed five people on a bus returning home from a school band contest, was driving with a suspended driver's license after failing to pay a fine for a speeding ticket, authorities said Monday.

Michael John Kozlowski's license was suspended Sept. 21 for failing to pay a speeding ticket issued in Indiana in April, officials there said. The ticket was issued for driving a Jeep 76 mph in a 55-mph zone, said Adam Garrett, a spokesman for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
