Simpson time line 3 Dec. 6, 2007: Simpson is successfully discharged from the Turning Point Treatment Center after he is diagnosed with alcoholism. 3 April 4, 2008: Simpson relapses after nearly four months of sobriety. He is arrested at his Peosta, Iowa, home after a disturbance where he is found intoxicated. Authorities discover a shotgun tossed onto his front lawn near a spent shotgun shell. Simpson kicks out the window of a squad car on his way to the law enforcement center. 3 June 2, 2008: Simpson pleads guilty to charges of reckless use of a firearm and fifth-degree criminal mischief. He received a deferred judgment and probation on the charges. 3 July 16, 2008: Police Chief Kim Wadding informs Simpson that he is fired, after an internal investigation by the department. 3 Aug. 20, 2008: The Dubuque Civil Service Commission overturns Simpson's termination. 3 March 10, 2009: The city appeals the commission's decision in front of the district court. 3 March 24, 2009: Judge Lawrence Fautsch reverses the commission's decision, effectively upholding Simpson's termination.
