Summary


The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association voted to adopt six amendments during its annual meeting Wednesday in Wausau, among them one that would impact transfer students and resolves, for now, an issue that had become a hot-button topic across the state.

According to a WIAA press release, the rule, approved by a 269- 76 vote, goes into effect in 2007-08 and says that "any student transferring into a (WIAA) member school is ineligible to practice or compete for one calendar year unless the move was made necessary by parents' total change of residence or approval is granted by the Board of Control through an existing waiver process."
