MAQUOKETA, Iowa - Ann Burns picked up about 10 strands of deer hair, gathered them into a little bundle and dabbed the end with a drop of hot glue. Burns, of Maquoketa, repeated the process many times, making tufts of "dried grass."

"We will situate these behind the buildings, where they didn't get the grass cut last year," Burns said.
