Officials: Investing in Kids Cuts Crime

Summary


A national crime-fighting organization says that federal investment in early-childhood programs like Head Start carry a bigger bang for the taxpayer buck than building prisons, and can reduce the cost of foster care.

"We believe that America's anti-crime arsenal contains no weapons more powerful than the proven programs to help kids get the right start in life," said Tim Carpenter, of Fight Crime: Invest in Kids.
