BERNARD, Iowa - No one was injured in a mobile-home fire late Thursday night in the Leisure Lake area southeast of Bernard.
The owner of the home, Michelle Herrig, of Dubuque, had left with a friend to "get a burger" at a nearby tavern around 11 p.m. Thanksgiving night. When they returned about an hour later, they saw heavy smoke pouring from the mobile home and its addition. After opening the front door, Herrig was met with a "wall of smoke and flames," and quickly shut the door and called for help.See the full content of this document
