Kevin Pittsnogle scored 22 points and No. 11 West Virginia remained unbeaten in the rough-and-tumble Big East by holding off Notre Dame, 71-70, Wednesday night in Morgantown, W.Va.

West Virginia (16-4, 7-0) clung to a 71-65 lead with less than one minute left. Notre Dame scored the next five points and Chris Quinn, who led the Irish with 24 points, had a chance to win the game, but missed a jumper with less than two seconds left.
