They Just Don't Make Movies Like They Used to; Now They're Offering Full-Length Features On Cell Phones

Summary


Last Saturday, just as excitement was building for tomorrow's Academy Awards, I read that Sprint Nextel has begun offering full- length movies (drum roll here) on cell phone. Talk about Babel.

That evening I had dinner with friends - avid moviegoers all - and we discussed our favorite films of all time: Dr. Zhivago. The Godfather. East of Eden. We noted that not only were all of these movies powerful, sprawling and gorgeous, but also that they've stuck with us because we each saw our favorite for the first time when we were young and hence at our most idealistic and impressionable.
