Mediacom Must Settle Big Ten Broadcast Dispute

With three Saturdays of college football over, the dispute between Mediacom and the Big Ten Network continues to leave college football fans wanting.

Mediacom subscribers got to see the Iowa-Iowa State game this weekend, if they managed to find "Versus" network, formerly known as Outdoor Life. It's a good thing it wasn't Iowa's turn to host the intrastate matchup. It probably would have been shown exclusively on the Big Ten Network. That would have put it off limits for a lot of Iowans. Mediacom is deadlocked in an impasse with the Big Ten Network, a new channel formed in a venture between the Big Ten Conference and Fox. Mediacom says the Big Ten Network should be part of a sports tier cable package, not on its basic family package. And the price is too high. The Big Ten Network is holding out to be part of basic expanded cable. Negotiations are going ... not so well.
