Summary
The TH is to be commended for inviting Mavis Leno to speak at the annual Salute to Women event. It was definitely not interspersed with the one-liners a lot of us might have expected; her somber message about the sad plight of Afghan women was one all of us needed to hear.
Her comparison of her father (who was trapped in a mine collapse, not knowing whether anyone even knew he'd gone into the mine that day) with the women of Afghanistan who have suffered so many atrocities at the hands of the Taliban, not knowing if anyone outside their country is even aware of their plight, needs to be shared.
