DES MOINES (AP) - Legislative leaders were briefed Thursday by prison officials on last month's escape of two inmates from the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison, and they said there's no need for an independent legislative investigation into the escape from the state's only maximum security prison.
Lawmakers also were told that a national corrections group will be conducting a "security audit" of all the state's prisons.See the full content of this document
