The disputed seat on the Grant County Board of Supervisors will remain open at least until May 11. That is when a scheduling conference is set from Circuit Court Judge Robert VanDeHey.
A civil case surrounds the District 12 seat to represent Wards 7 and 8 in the city of Platteville. Julia Clark defeated Dwight Nelson by one vote, 54-53. Nelson requested a recount, which found an absentee ballot cast for him had been thrown out since it was not initialed by the Platteville City Clerk's office. Nelson is asking the court to allow the vote to force a tie. The candidates then would participate in an agreed-upon tiebreaker.See the full content of this document
