Renovation of Lancaster's Schreiner Memorial Library is moving into its next phase and City Administrator Scot Simpson said the project has the backing of groups slated to have space in the expanded building.

It is hoped that an architect for the project will be hired by spring. Simpson said organizations that have agreed to help fund the preliminary studies on the library project include the library foundation, Grant County Historical Society, Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and the city of Lancaster. The historical society is involved because the building would include space for a museum.
