Nine boys and girls from East Dubuque and Menominee, ages 10-14, were named local champions of the 2008 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship and earned the right to compete at the district level. Council 7527 in East Dubuque sponsored the local competition at St. Mary's School. All youngsters ages 10 to 14 were eligible to participate.

Liz Woodward was the 10 year old girls'champion and Justin Schneider was the winner of the 10 year old boys'division. In the 11 year old bracket, Mitchell Wubben was the boys'champion. Twelve year old winners in the girls and boys divisions were Jennifer Hayes and Sam Tressel. The 13 year old girls division was won by Kari Larson and the boys by Adam Lange. Fourteen year old champions were Nicole Hayes in the girls bracket and Tyler Monahan in the boys.
