The Iowa Court of Appeals on Wednesday ruled in favor of sheriff's deputies who pulled over a suspected drunken driver based on a phone call from another motorist.

The unanimous ruling reversed an earlier decision by the Dubuque County District Court that said the deputies would have needed to independently observe suspicious behavior, rather than relying on a phone call by a citizen who called dispatchers and followed the man's pickup truck for seven minutes on U.S. 20.
