Back in the day, the Summer Iowa Games were one of the few places in Iowa to get a soccer tournament.

No longer. The sport is everywhere from Spencer to Davenport. Soccer's expansion throughout the Hawkeye State serves as a testament to the legacy of the Summer Iowa Games, which will roll out 54 sports for more than 15,000 athletes when it returns for its 24th edition in July. Last year, athletes as young as 2-year-old Lucas Hart of Boone, Iowa, and as old as 94-year-old Art Ryden of Cherokee, Iowa, took part in the Games.
