Facebook Rocks, so I'm Told

Summary


I'm on Facebook now. At least I think that's how you say it. I'm still learning the whole social networking vernacular. Apparently you don't call it your Facebook page, just your Facebook. But I can't quite bring myself to use friend as a verb. And I have no idea why people are "poking" me and what it actually means.

If you are my age-ish or older (and if you are reading a newspaper, that's a pretty good bet) you might be thinking, "Wow, who knew Amy Gilligan was hip and trendy enough to be on Facebook?" This is definitely the impression I would like to give, no matter how little basis in fact that statement might have. The truth is, I just happen to know a lot of young people. In fact, looking at most of my Facebook friends, I am old enough to be their ... um, cool, older cousin.
