AMES, Iowa (AP) - A former Iowa State University student kicked out of school after the 2004 Veishea riot wants to know why a football player convicted of a felony gets to return to campus.

Eric Osterholm, 23, a philosophy and psychology double major, was expelled following the 2004 Veishea riot. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor interference and disorderly conduct charges. Osterholm spent four days in jail, will complete 80 hours of community service and paid more than $1,200 in fines. The Iowa Board of Regents rejected his appeal last fall to overturn the expulsion.
