Summary


Say what you want about Dubuquers, we can take a joke. Sometimes, to the great surprise of our friends on the coasts, we even understand satire. How sophisticated!

That's said with more than a touch of sarcasm. But apparently, the ability to grasp satire is more rare than we would have thought. John McCain and Barack Obama have a little trouble with the concept, judging by their condemnation of The New Yorker cover featuring an Obama cartoon. The illustration shows Obama in the White House giving a fist bump to his wife, Michelle. He is dressed in a turban, robe and sandals while she sports a huge Afro and an automatic weapon. Meanwhile, American flags burn in the fireplace under a picture of Osama bin Laden.
