WATERLOO (AP) - An eastern Iowa convenience store owner has lost his federal appeal challenging a conviction on conspiracy to commit marriage fraud and aiding and abetting marriage fraud.

Muhammad "Mike" Anwar, 39, of Waterloo, said the district court should not have allowed the jury to hear testimony about his affairs with women during his February 2004 jury trial in Cedar Rapids. He also said officers intimidated a defense witness into not taking the stand.
