Deputy, Like May Family, Lost Loved One to Foul Play; Mike Peters Helps Family Look for Man's Remains Because He Knows 'What They Are Going Through'

Summary

Mike Peters offered to help the family of a homicide victim look for his remains because Peters knows what they are going through. A member of his family was murdered.

Peters, a Jackson County Sheriff's deputy, spent hours Friday afternoon scrambling in dense underbrush and debris on a steep hillside south of Dubuque with the family of Greg May. May was slain in his Bellevue home in 2001 and a witness has testified that parts of his dismembered body were thrown over an embankment along U.S. 52.
