DES MOINES - A key Democratic leader said Tuesday he's willing to work with Republicans who won control of the state House and made big gains in the Senate, and that lawmakers might be able to agree on deep spending cuts backed by the GOP.

Senate Majority Leader Michael Gronstal, of Council Bluffs, said he already reached out to Republicans who now hold the House majority and to Gov.-elect Terry Branstad.
