More than 120 members of District 6 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers turned out for a vote on A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co.'s proposal to create a labor classification that the union says would cut wages by $2.10 per hour.

After more than an hour of reportedly tough talk at the Dubuque County Fairgrounds 4-H building, rank-and-file members unanimously voted not to vote on management's offer, adding a "friendly amendment" that neither side should bring up the topic until new contract negotiations begin next year.
