Downsizing at Dubuque's Medical Associates Clinic has left area athletic programs in a painful predicament.

Effective Dec. 16, athletic trainers currently assigned to nine area high schools and the University of Dubuque will be out of a job. That means Dubuque prep teams, among others, may not have the services of professional trainers for the first time since 1989.
