DES MOINES (AP) - The top officer of the Iowa National Guard told lawmakers Monday that 17 percent of the guard's available manpower is serving on active duty, a decrease from past deployment levels.
Currently, 850 Iowa soldiers are in Iraq and 750 are on active duty in other locations, with another 100 troops preparing for overseas missions, said Maj. Gen. Ron Dardis, adjutant general of the Iowa National Guard.See the full content of this document
