Public health emergency alerts become much easier Monday. The Iowa Department of Public Health will unveil its customized, secure alert network, called the BioTerrorism Readiness Suite, developed with Sacramento, Calif.-based Virtual Alert, Inc.

An extranet portal, the system provides a secure network for issuing alerts and other communications across public health departments and officials in the event of a public health emergency.
