DES MOINES (AP) - State health officials say closing schools in an attempt to contain an outbreak of whooping cough has had little effect.
"When we close school, coughing kids go to the mall or their friends' house," which spreads the bacteria, said Terri Thornton, a nurse for the Iowa Department of Public Health.See the full content of this document
