DES MOINES (AP) - Max Cleland, a triple amputee from Vietnam wounds, is opening a counterattack for John Kerry, telling veterans Kerry is "one of their own" and blasting President Bush for slashing aid even as he sends new soldiers off to war.
"It is absolutely uncoinsciable for a sitting president to be closing Veterans Administration facilities even as men and women are coming back with missing limbs," said Cleland. "They will need the VA for the rest of their lives."See the full content of this document
