MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Jim Doyle's administration is paying a lawyer and former head of the state Democratic Party $230 per hour to fight the Ho-Chunk Nation's attempt to get out of paying $60 million in a dispute over its gambling compact with the state.

Matt Flynn, a frequent campaign donor to Doyle, so far has been paid $50,000 in legal fees to represent the state. He was hired last year after the attorney general declined to represent the state in the lawsuit.
