Child Care Official Resigns

MADISON, Wis. - A top state official with the agency that approved a $25,000 payment to a child care provider under investigation for fraud has resigned from his position, Gov. Jim Doyle said Friday.

In announcing the resignation, Doyle also defended Department of Children and Families Secretary Reggie Bicha. He said the call from a Republican state senator for Bicha to also resign is "ridiculous."
