KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Atfa Azimi used to walk to a secret class with her small notebooks hidden under her loose-fitting shirt. If she had been spotted by the enforcers of the former Taliban regime it would have meant an end to her schooling, and perhaps much worse for her parents.
That five years of defying the Islamic militia's ban on education for girls still left Atfa, now 16, two grades behind in school. Now she is one of more than 400 young people who are trying to catch up at a remedial school set up in the bombed-out carcass of Kabul Theater.See the full content of this document
