History, they say, is philosophy teaching by examples. Well, history has shown us what the tea party philosophy looks like when it's put into practice. It was called the Age of the Robber Barons, and it wasn't pretty.
In late 19th century America, nearly all wealth was held by a tiny oligarchy, while most people endured poverty that we can barely imagine today. Workers, including children, put in 10- and 12-hour days for miserable wages. Worker and consumer protections were nonexistent.
