Area Vets Could Take Honor Flight

Summary

Honor Flight Network - Mission statement: Transport America's veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifices. - Goal: Helping every single veteran in America, willing and able to get on a plane or a bus, visit their memorial. - Priority: Top priority is given to America's most senior heroes -- survivors of World War II and any veterans with a terminal illness who wish to visit their memorial. The program naturally will transition to Korean War, Vietnam War and all other veterans who served, on a chronological basis. www.honorflight.org Honor Flight of Greater Dubuque 799 Main St., Suite 350, Dubuque, IA, 52001; 563-589-7840, or www.honorflightdbq.org

If all goes well, an estimated 100 to 110 tri-state-area World War II veterans will receive a free, round-trip airplane trip on May 18 to Washington, D.C., to see the sights. However, organizers seek an influx of cash - about $35,000.
