Landmarks Featured in Historic Calendar
Twelve historic sites from the Prairie State's vast array of landmarks are highlighted in the 2010 Historic Illinois Calendar which is now on sale. The calendar, produced by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency (IHPA), features 12 full-color photographs of historic sites managed by IHPA and taken by photographers Nels Akerlund, of Rockford, and Gregg Daniels and Ron Ackerman, both of Springfield. Each photo carries a brief description of the site and where it is located.
Highland's Adult Education Program Seeking Volunteer Tutors
The Highland Community College Adult Education Program is seeking volunteers to tutor adults in Stephenson and Jo Daviess Counties. Diocese Honors Karl Burroughs As 2009 Knight of the Round Table
Karl Burroughs of East Dubuque has been named an honoree of the Knights of Columbus, Rockford Diocese Chapter. Buroughs, his wife Eunice, two sons and their wives, two daughters, a brother and sister attended the Knights of the Round Table Recognition Dinner held in Rockford Wednesday, Sept. 23. He was one of three honorees induction this year and is the first East Dubuquer to be named to the Round Table during the 25 years of its existence.

October Immunization Clinic Schedule
Immunization clinics will be held at the Jo Daviess County Health Department, 9483 US Rt 20 W, P O Box 318, Galena, on Tuesdays Oct. 6, 13, and 20, from noon to 4 p.m. Please call the Health Department at 815-777-0263 or toll free 1-877-777-1068 for an appointment. There is a charge of $10 per shot with a maximum of $30 per client. The charge provides a means to defray the cost of handling and administration.

Five Flags Framework of Sesquicentennial
It was to be quite an event, majestic and memorable. After all, a community does not celebrate 150 years of existence everyday. This sesquicentennial event would be so large in concept that it would include not only the celebrant, Dubuque, but the surrounding area as well. Hospice Schedules Education Meeting
STOCKTON -- Volunteer Hospice of Northwest Illinois invites you to their next Community Education Meeting at the Stockton Park House at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The program is on pet therapy. The benefits of dog therapy will be discussed along with showing off the dogs' talents and agility. There is no cost, and the Stockton Park House is handicapped accessible. Library Moves Forward with Demolition
The next step in the East Dubuque District Library's anticipated move across U.S. 20 is complete. The Library Board of Trustees, at its Thursday, Sept. 24 special meeting, awarded the demolition bid for the properties at 126, 134, 148 and 154 Wisconsin Avenue to Louie's Trenching Service Inc., of Galena.
Vandalism Incidents Under Investigation
The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office is investigating numerous incidents of spray paint damage to road signs, buildings, and other structures that have occurred in areas of rural Galena and East Dubuque. Anyone with information pertaining to these crimes is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-747-0117, or the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office Division of Criminal Investigations at 815- 777-2168.
